  • Regents to Visit UCSB

Members of the UC Board of Regents and staff from the Office of the President will make an informational visit to UCSB on Wednesday and Thursday, June 13-14. They will meet in HSSB 6020 and take public comment pertaining to items on the agenda.
During their visit, the Regents will be briefed on the campus's long-range development plan and other campus issues. They also will tour the North and West campuses as well as some facilities, including the Humanities and Social Sciences Building, Institute for Theoretical Physics, Materials Research Laboratory, and the University Art Museum.
Presentations will be made about unusual programs and research projects, including a major educational outreach program called ENLACE (Engaging Latino Communities for Education). There will be presentations on the research programs of the newly organized California NanoSystems Institute, the Center for Research in Electronic Art Technology, the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis, and the Institute for Quantum Engineering and Science Technology.
Wednesday's meeting begins at 3 p.m. and Thursday's at 8:30 a.m. While sign-ups are allowed at the meetings, anyone wishing to comment is encouraged to inform the secretary of the Regents in advance by calling (510) 987-9220, especially if he or she has a disability that requires accommodation.
"We are delighted that the Regents will be visiting," said Chancellor Henry T. Yang. "We intend to offer them a varied program that will demonstrate the ways in which UCSB is exciting and exceptional."
