  • Summer Sessions Returns with Unit Fee Cap, Employee Discount

UCSB Summer Sessions' curriculum has been expanded this year, with over 600 courses now offered. The special discount program known as the Unit Fee Cap, introduced last summer for undergraduate and graduate students, is back. So, too, is the career staff employee discount.
Most courses are offered during Session A (June 24 to Aug. 2), but over 120 courses will also be offered during Session B (Aug. 5 to Sept. 13) or in other schedules as short as three weeks. "Students will still have time to work or travel, if they so desire," said Linda Williams, Summer Sessions coordinator of publicity and publications.
Career staff employees can take courses at a reduced rate of $25 a unit, a savings of $51 a unit over regular costs. A supervisor's permission and payment of fees on or before June 17 are required. The special staff discount form, as well as the complete summer catalog, can be found on the Summer Sessions Web site .
The Unit Fee Cap allows UC undergraduate students to take eight units at regular prices, and charges no additional unit fees for study loads above that level. For graduate students the cut-off is 12 units, with additional courses free--except for any lab or course materials charges.
