Launching UCSB's new Walter H. Capps Center for the Study of Religion and Public Life on a wave of applause this month were Congresswoman Lois Capps and her daughter, Laura, seated in the front next to (to right) former Santa Barbara Mayor Hal Conklin and David Marshall, dean of humanities and fine arts for the College of Letters & Science. Historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Garry Wills discussed "Citizen Believers" at the inaugural event (see Web site <www.cappscenter.ucsb.edu>).
