President Dynes to Visit UCSB this Week

New UC President Robert Dynes is visiting all campuses in the system.

In lieu of a traditional inaugural ceremony, UC President Robert C. Dynes is visiting all UC campuses as well as other parts of the state. He will be visiting Santa Barbara and UCSB the end of this week.
"We are honored and delighted to have President Dynes visit UCSB and meet members of our community," said Chancellor Henry T. Yang. "Being able to introduce him to our dynamic campus is an exciting opportunity."
Members of alumni associations from UCSB and other UC campuses have been invited to attend a reception featuring a "conversation" with the new president. During his visit, Dynes is expected to emphasize the many ways in which the University has an important impact on the state, a central theme of his tour, and to urge alums to join him in spreading this message.
While at UCSB, Dynes will address a meeting here of the systemwide Council of the UC Staff Assemblies, or CUCSA. Other activities are also being planned.
Last month President Dynes visited UC Riverside, and at the start of this week he is visiting UCLA. His UCLA visit will coincide with a University of California-sponsored forum on the state budget in which he will participate. Visits to other UC campuses will be scheduled later.
Dynes, who became the University's 18th president on Oct. 2, is the former chancellor of UC San Diego and a distinguished physicist. He succeeded Richard Atkinson, who retired after eight years as president.
