  • Manzanita to Get Faculty Director

Apostolos Athanassakis, professor of classics, has been appointed Manzanita Village's first faculty resident learning director, according to Ron Tobin, associate vice chancellor, academic programs. The new position is charged with enhancing the scholarly and intellectual life of the housing complex's residents–some 800 students–through organized programs that include other faculty.
The faculty director, which is a half-time position so that tenured faculty members can continue teaching and research, will live in a one-bedroom apartment in one of the residence halls and dine at the nearby Carrillo Dining Commons.
