San Clemente Graduate Housing Project Up for Review

New graduate student housing and parking facilities are planned for 11.5 acres of grassy playing field along El Colegio Road on the Storke Campus portion of UCSB.
Santa Barbara County also plans to improve with roundabouts five major intersections on El Colegio.
The San Clemente Graduate Student Housing project expects to provide 976 bed spaces in 278 residential units with assorted support facilities.
A 776-space parking structure off Stadium Road and 200 surface parking spaces off El Colegio are also planned.
A public scoping meeting is set for this Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. at Embarcadero Hall, 935 Embarcadero Del Norte, to record comment to help shape the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR).
An initial study of the proposed project is available from the campus Office of Budget and Planning, Cheadle Hall 1325, or Davidson Library's Government Information Center, as well as the Goleta and Santa Barbara public libraries.
The DEIR is expected to include discussion of issues such as air quality, biological resources, esthetics, land use/planning, noise, recreation, solid waste disposal, transportation/traffic, water quality, and mandatory findings.
A Notice of Preparation, with a 30-day public review period that ends on Dec. 5, currently allows comment on the adequacy of the scope of the DEIR. Written comments may be addressed to Senior Planner Jennifer Metz, planning and design, Cheadle Hall #2032.
