Audit, Computer Acting Chiefs Named

Arlene Allen and Richard "Rick" Melton have been appointed acting directors of the departments of information systems and computing and of audit services, respectively.

Both are long-time campus employees in the Administrative Services Division, noted George Pernsteiner, vice chancellor, administrative services, in making their appointments.

Allen has worked in areas of information technology for more than 30 years, rising to associate director of the IS&C Department under recently retired director Glenn Davis. She also teaches group fitness for the Physical Activities and Recreation Program, and is active in Santa Barbara community groups.

Melton, a supervising auditor before his appointment, has been with the Audit Services Department for 17 years. He is currently on the University Center Governance Board and has chaired the campus United Way campaign. He will run the office during the search for a successor to former director Joe Hackett.
