"THE BATTLE OF ALGIERS" 7:30 p.m., Campbell Hall This 1965 film story of how the French won a 1954 battle and lost their colony of Algeria still resonates with audiences, including those in the Pentagon where it was recently screened. RAZBAR ENSEMBLE 8 p.m., Hatlen Theatre Guest artists Razbar, an ensemble of Kurdish musicians based in Germany since 1997, will present an evening of sacred music and dance. Admission is $20; $12 for students. THURSDAY 25 "THE MATRIX" 7:30 p.m., Campbell Hall Psychologist James Blascovitch will introduce this 1999 film of humans in revolt against machines and a virtual reality-type world. It is the first of three films in the Visions of Technology series organized by the Center for Information Technology & Society. She will discuss a new partnership to help preserve and study the ancient Maya center. Guests are asked to bring food for the 5 p.m. meal and to make a donation. Jackie Speier and will discuss faculty diversity and gender equity issues. PROP. 54 DISCUSSION 5 p.m., MultiCultural Center UCSB students involved in the local "No on Prop. 54" campaign participate in an open forum addressing the politics and facts surrounding the so-called racial privacy constitutional amendment on the Oct. 7 ballot.
