United States Poet Laureate Billy Collins asked students at UCSB's fall convocation last week to engage their minds during their college careers, even noting on the margins of their textbooks when they disagreed with the authors. More than 50 faculty members, led by Chancellor Henry T. Yang, welcomed an estimated 4,000 students and family members to the campus. Small group discussions followed the ceremony.
